Due to its increasing applications in personal communications systems, body-centric wireless communications has become a major field of interest for researchers. A new algorithm for BAN- BAN interference rejection has been proposed and compared with the conventional adaptive algorithms. The use of multiple antennas at both the transmitter and receiver end, i.e., MIMO has been investigated for on-body applications. It has been noticed that MIMO provides significant capacity increase for these channels despite the line-of-sight.

Multi Carrier CDMA (MC-CDMA) technique has become increasingly popular in wireless communications, mainly due to its high spectral efficiency, robustness to frequency selective fading and flexibility to support integrated applications. This study incorporates a comprehensive BER simulation study undertaken on the effectiveness of a channel encoded multiple-input multiple-output multi-carrier code division multiple access (MIMO MC-CDMA) wireless communication system on color image transmission. The convolutional channel encoded simulated system incorporates various signal detection techniques such as Minimum mean square error (MMSE) and Zero-Forcing (ZF) and two-dimensional nonlinear order statistic filtering for noise reduction. Simulated results are performed with a color image and the extracted data are processed with different digital modulation schemes under fading channels and AWGN channel with two by two MIMO antenna configuration. The proposed communication system is reasonably acceptable and the applicability of noise reduction technique has improved the image quality significantly.

In recent years, researchers have developed a new paradigm called cooperative communication in order to get rid of the limitations of MIMO techniques. In this paper, we have analyzed the performance of DF relay with keyhole and correlation effects in MIMO relay channel. Moreover, based on MGF approach we determine the closed form expression of average SER of the MIMO DF system. Based on our analysis, it is evident that cooperative scheme outperforms the keyhole affected non cooperative scheme.

This book investigates the performance of point-to-point wireless ad hoc networks. Approaching the design of these networks through the medium access control (MAC) layer, analytical expressions are derived for the outage probability, which is defined as the probability of receiving messages erroneously. Moreover, the impact of various ad hoc network characteristics (such as fading and bounded region) is investigated. Having established an understanding of the behavior of ad hoc networks, we propose MAC layer techniques to improve the performance. Three schemes are proposed: 1) optimization of the sensing threshold in CSMA, 2) enhanced decision making ability of CSMA, and 3) introduction of bandwidth partitioning. Finally, we step into the domain of multiple input multiple output (MIMO) communications. The performance of MIMO networks with no transmitter channel state information (CSIT) is analyzed, and different transmission schemes are proposed to achieve the best usage of transmit antennas. With the addition of CSIT, we consider various interference management schemes, and propose a distributed binary power control scheme that ensures an increase in the sum rate of MIMO networks.
